Swapping a Campy 42 for a 39......Fausto

Going to swap my inner Campy 39 ring for a 42. From what I understand, technically speaking the two front rings are "phased" in together ( at the factory) to faciliate smoothe shifting.

I also have been informed that this is no big deal.

but

When bolting on the ring, what do I look for in terms of the orientation of the inner ring ( position wise ) ?
&
Rule of thumb for tightnening the bolts and crank.

TIA

I just swapped out my record 39 for a 42. No problems, the shifting is as smooth as it gets. As for aligning the rings, just match up the the little rhombus-looking etching on the 42 with the one on the 53. As for the tightening procedure, I was very careful not to overtighten the hidden crankbolt from the back. Also, I noticed that the factory did not apply any locktite to the other four bolts. You might want to do that befroe tightening. The blue stuff wors well.
Make sure you get 9 speed or 'C10' to match the rest (nm)Spunout
