Holy chain-slip, batman!!empacher6seat

So I started a big climb on my ride this evening, and after getting out of the saddle and pedelling hard up the hill my chain fell off. After I put it back on, I rode a bit more up the hill and the chain fell AGAIN. This happened 5 times on a hill that's no more then 500 meters long. After reaching the top of the hill, I noticed it only happened while riding in my 42x21 or 42x19. I know it's not a derailleur problem because the chain doesn't rub against anything, there's just a click or snap sound then BAM, the chain is gone. Any suggestions of what could be the cause of this? It's a pretty old bike 10 years so I think it might just be a really worn out drivetrain. I hope that's not the case, because I really can't afford to make any big purchases now!

Could be a bent chain ring - only one tooth out of alignment can cause this.

Another common cause is loose Chainring bolts. Check them to make sure they are tight.

Or a stiff link might cause it as well.

Or the rear cog might be loose.
Coming off the front? worn ring or chain or tooth bent nmrwbadley
