Stupid question for all roadies. With all the respect to roadies: why roadies shave their legs?

it's easier to clean an abrasion/wound without hair getting on the way. it's also more sanitary when cleaning a wound.
hair also acts as velcro when you go down at high speed. the hair tends to grab the road and more flesh comes off than necessary. it's NOT for aerodynamics! plus, when the day comes that you get really vascular, it looks cool!
To fit in. Then, you feel dirty if they're not. (nm)Quack

Cheapest/easiest way to shave 1-2 pounds off of total weight.js5280

And you can double that weight savings by shaving the other leg too!

YMMV ;-)
I could shave my back and save another 2 lbs : ) nmDave Hickey

Try washing your hairy legs after riding through tar on a hot day.... VERY PAINFUL!

HERE is the truth. Pros do it because of the advantages of easier massages and to a much lesser degree the accident scrape issue. Normal people do it to copy the pros..how many of those club guys go get massages after each ride or how often do they wreck? They do it to emulate the pros and look different than the masses.
My wife massages my legs each weekend so I guess I'm a pro?! -nmTig

I get a massage after every ride... A$10 from the Thai girl down the street - get the "special" if you know what I mean! After all, $10 love you long time!

I also wreck quite a bit too... usually towards the end of the ride when I start thinking more about the upcoming massage and less about riding!

I've wrecked 3 times in 3 weeks before. Never on a training ride but when you get caught up in racing you can crash a lot.

Yes if you have muscular defined legs, No if you don'tFez

Shaved legs look weird for those with fat undefined legs or for those with real thin legs.

But seriously, I don't think its a matter of emulating the pros. I just like how shorts and tights fit over hairless legs, especially in the winter, when clothing tends to pull the hairs. Also, easier to clean dirt, sweat and grit away after a ride.

The razor was in my hand. Why not? Actually I'll tell you why not, its prickily against my torso and weird looking. Not the legs I'm talking about, just the arms, the legs you'll barely notice
