How much mula to build a wheelset?WrigleyRoadie

Looking for some numbers... if I walk into a LBS with a box of DT spokes, Mavic CXP33 rims, Dura-Ace hubs & skewers, rim tape and a set of tires...

What's the average price of a wheelset build? Thanx for the input!!!

By the way, does anyone know what wheels Robbie McEwen was using on his Ultimate in the TDF? They looked to have silver hubs and spokes with red, slightly aero rims. I saw photos of him in Procycling, and was curious since most of the squad was using Shimano WH-7701s.

That's my standard charge for wheelbuilding starting with new everything. I know there are guys who will do it for less, but I doubt they go through all of the same steps that I do.

Good wheelbuilders in my area(Lower Bucks County, Pennsylvania) charge $50 per wheel. I think that's very reasonable!

$2600 bike + inept first attempt at wheelbuilding = mild concussion, much sadness and imprint of chainring on face.

I assume by the monnicker that your based in Chicago? I just had a wheel built at On-The-Route on Lincoln (a block south of Belmont). They relaced a CX wheel for me for $40. The wheel has been bullet-proof ever since... Maybe worth a look?

BTW... The guys are pretty cool to deal with there...
