|OK, I've already hit one squirrel this year, and had several other close calls, had a wasp in my jersey that stung me numerous times, had a few close calls with moles and even a turtle (didn't see it... it wasn't exactly speeding in front of me), but what is getting me the most is the insects that fly in my mouth.
Now I don't ride with my mouth just gaping open trying to see what I can catch... numerous cosmic forces must function in unison for me to "catch a bug." The worst cases: some random flying object ended up lodged in my dry throat. I could feel it squirming around and had to grab a very quick drink to dislodge it and spit it out. Another time a bee of all things ended up in my mouth, and I couldn't spit it out without a quick drink (very fortunate I wasn't stung... again). The dragonflies have hit my face several times- they are quite hard, like being struck by a rock. The gnats generally just go down easy, or are easily spit out. Right now there are grasshoppers everywhere... I can't wait to try one.
What's your favorite insect?

|I guess it's too cold up here in edmonton, (or maybe they've all been eaten!!) but all you find here are hares and these big a$$ mosquitoes!
So I guess mosquitoes are my fav than.
You can find them a lot especially in my morning rides. They're actually a regular part of my morning breakfast now, nah.. just kidding not that many everyday.
But you know what I can imagine already?, a movie on them!,
the attack of the giant mosquitoes!.. yeahhhhhh...
Anyway, back to reality.
Who needs shows like fear factor anyway with all the insects that we readily eat,

|... I don't mind swallowing a few (as long as I've still got a bit of spit to wash 'em down)... it's the ones that end up through the upstairs orifice that bother me... blowing snot rockets ain't a personal fav... but it beats the sensation of something literally crawling around inside your head... and at worst, perhaps causing a nasty sinus infection (your sinus walls are extremely thin... I've seen the results of severe sinus infections that have literally eaten their way into the brain case... yuck!).
Oh, and toasted grasshopper ain't bad... crunchy, with a slight sweetness...

|On the trail I ride early in the morning there are swarms of little flies or gnats that make it seem like a blizzard in some sections. This time of the year and early spring they seem the worst. All I can do is keep my mouth closed and head down slightly and get through as fast as I can.|
