|You speak highly of the Take-A-Look mirror, and I got one, and after some getting used to, I'm able to see behind me when I want to, but I have to consciously change my position (tilt my head, move my shoulder, sit upright a little more).
It would be nice if I could see things in my natural riding position, so I could see things approaching just as easily as I can when I'm in a car. The main problem is that my shoulder is always in the way. The lower I am on the bars, the worse.
Did you bend the wire outwards significantly to clear your shoulder? Maybe my glasses don't facilitate the mirror as well. I'll keep trying.

|I've got a Take-A-Look also. I have mine adjusted so all I have to turn my head slightly to the left. They take awhile to get used to, then it becomes second nature. If I just look directly into the mirror all I get is a nice shot of the outside of my left shoulder. Don't bend the brass wire part of the mirror, make the adjustments by making very slight movements with the mirror head. I presume you are using riding glasses and not eye glasses, could make a difference. It took me about 45 minutes of fusing with it on my first ride, now If I knock it out of whack once and awhile and I have no problems getting it back into adjustment.|

|I'm actually using cheap, 5 dollar plastic sunglasses that are probably 5 years old, but they seem to work great for what I want. They are basically eye-jacket type.
I haven't bent any wire yet, and if I did it would only be the silver wire, where they tell you to bend it. I don't have trouble adjusting the angle of the mirror, but the perfect angle usually has my shoulder smack in the middle of view. The mirror would need to be farther forward and to the left of my head to prevent this problem, I think.

|I'm using a helmet-mounted mirror and had the same problem the first week. Shoulder blocked the rear view when in the drops or on the aero bars. Took a lot of experimentation to fix that, and I almost returned the thing for a handlebar mounted mirror, but finally got it. Just have patience and keep trying different placement and mirror angles. These work great once you figure them out. You do still have to move your head slightly (left and up for me), but you shouldn't have to sit up or change body position. Reduces your chances of getting car-doored while twisting around to look behind you.|

|when I first bought it, it took me a while to figure it out, even though it's very easy. I just want to make sure you are aware that the mirror pivots both up-down as well as sideways (it took me an embarrassingly long time to realize the sideways). I think I recall you may have to rotate the mirror when you get it out of the package. In futile desperation I almost resorted to bending the metal where it says don't bend it before I realized hoe to use it. You may need to adjust it up-down (easy to do mid-ride with one hand) when switching between hoods and drops; after a while, you probably won't need to do this either. Finally, as others have pointed out, it is meant for you to tilt your head slightly to the left to see in the mirror. It is trivial compared to riding without a mirror.|

|All I do now is dip my shoulder a tiny bit; I barely even need to move my head, even when down low on the aerobars. Experiment a little; you'll get there.

|I would think that the mirror is designed to work with glasses specifically made for cycling. I don't wear expensive riding glasses, just something to protect my eyes. I have wide shoulders, use a 46 bar, and once I have the vertical adjustment it's just a matter of adjusting the horizontal, otherwise all I get is a shot of my left shoulder. I do most my riding on the hoods so I make my adjustments from that position. All you should be touching is the mirror head when you are making your adjustments, in very small increments....these things actually act more like sideview mirrors then rearview mirrors...you have to move your head a little, just like using the sideview mirror of your car...

|and mounted my take a look to my helmet, like was suggested in at the website (directions). I like it alot better, my sunglasses are staying put on my face, still sometimes close my right eye to take a glance back, but the mirror keeps it's position for me better on the helmet than glasses.|

|I got one last week. Over ten years ago I used a bar-end mirror that I liked.
I got the Rhode-Gear helmet mirror. The take-a-look and other eyeglass-mounted mirrors don't fit my Oakleys.
I've used it on a few rides now. Still not completely happy with the position. I too have to move my head slightly up and left to see the road behind. Otherwise, I just get a great view of my ear and shoulder. I'm not unhappy with it. I just have to keep fussing with it some more.
