Looking at this as a new bike, but at 200lbs im a bit scared at the prospect of superlite scandium and flex issues. Should I stick with the middle of the road 5200 or not.

Also, looking @ the SC and 5200. May want to check out the Calfee Luna. About the same $$$. Test road it the other week and loved the feel. Leaning toward the Luna.

I've never ridden an SC or a luna, but i ride and love my 5200.... there is nothing middle of the road about it, you just see lots of them on the road

good luck in your purchase

At 175 lbs, I'm no lightweight, and the Merckx is the stiffest frame I have ever ridden, including carbon. I stomp up hills and there is absolutely no chain rub on my narrow Record cage. I run a pair of Open Pros, preferring the ride to Ksyriums, which I find too stiff on this bike. The geometry makes for a fairly smooth ride. The frame is not stupid light, so with a pair of strong wheels, I don't see why you would have a problem. Ask the LBS, or check with Gita. Good luck.
