Central Park, NYC. If you raced Saturday morning, you might see yourself at andyshenphoto.com. Sorry about the shameless self promotion, but I'm really enjoying shooting the races.

speed up your film so we can actually see something.

Still shots are boring. I do this for fun, so I do what I want.
Nice pics, very artsy. (nm)gogene

you are really missing the point - a sharp/frozen image in this case would not only look dull and bland but highlight features within the frame that are not in any way conducive to the eye.

the image conveys speed and movement and need no change. i like feathers interpretation just the way it is, thank you. he knows what he is doing.

I'm just envious that you have the time to take such shots. My SLR is lying around, just screaming to be used like this!

Thanks for sharing your pics with us - reminds us of what we should be doing (rather than sitting in fornt of a PC and typing, whilst really trying to complete one's Masters' Research Thesis on Corporate Finance!)... riding that is!
Thanks, all nmfeathers mcgraw

This was at about 6:30 in the morning, so it was still pretty dark. I think it was about f/4 at 1/30 sec. Digital camera rated at iso 250. On camera flash set at minimum power. Focal length was 30mm, I was about five or six feet from the rider.

I can't recommend a good digital camera strongly enough. I have the Nikon D1X, which is a full fledged SLR. You just end up shooting so much more because film costs aren't a factor. And when you throw out the bad stuff there's no garbage being produced. Those LCD screens are like instant polaroids (is that redundant?), allowing you to adjust exposure very quickly.

Man, I really love the curvature of the rear Spinergy spokes. Very freaky looking.

Excellent shot.
