|First, for anyone who wants to spend a lot on pedals: http://www.crankbrothers.com/images/EGGBEATER_TRIPLE_TI.jpg
Second, what happened to "The Claw" waterbottle cage? Crank brothers don't even acknowledge that they make it. It is not listed under products on their web site. I've seen it for sale some places, though. Any good?

|... for the average schmoo to build "The World's Most Expensive Bike"... as long as the funds hold out.
Dunno 'bout the cage... maybe there were production problems... or they violated someone's patent...

|$400 for a pedal that weighs 183 grams?||weiwentg|
Aug 24, 2002 6:09 PM
|this can't be, surely. I could pay $250 for a pedal that weighs ~150grams (speedplay X1). that's already insane. I'm sure Crank Bros will sell some, but how many remains to be seen. get the ti spindles and sleeves from Cambriabike, and you'll be close enough to 200grams.|
|but there's a cleat||GMS|
Aug 24, 2002 6:31 PM
|Well, speedplay cleats weigh 85 grams, and eggbeater cleats weigh 35 grams (though who knows how much the road ones weigh). So they are about the same weight. Eggbeaters are slightly lighter with the original cleat. And mountain bikers can't use X1s, so I guess there's a market for $400 pedals somewhere.
That said, I wouldn't base my purchase decision on a few grams here and there. Everything else is more important.

|and cut the weight from the cleat.
but seriously, you could spend around $200 (eggbeaters, ti sleeves, ti spindles), and it wouldn't be very much heavier than the $400, everything-ti version. no, this is a component like the Chris King ti headset and the King titanium bottle cage. it's pure bike porn :)

|they have a decal on the side that says "Champion of Singapore". That alone is worth the $19.|

|right after I get my Stella Azzurra CF bars ($559), Mag stem ($299) & CF post ($239), oh that of cource will be preceded by winning the lottery and then falling VERY hard head first into a solid surface....
Actually, I tried EB's on my MTB and went back to Time ATAC's. I did not like the tiny platform of the EB there and I have a feeling that I would like it even less on the road. I'll stick to my X1's, thanks..
As P.T.B. used to say, there's one born every minute....
Now where's my lottery ticket...
|How about 195g Bebop's for $109?||clintb|
Aug 25, 2002 9:47 AM
|Jeez, a whole 10g for almost $300 more. Wow, let me give that one some thought. Not to mention, those Bebop's won't even have a weight limit with a stainless axle.|

|That Crank Brothers charges only $99.00 for their awesome original eggbeater as well as very reasonable prices for all their products. This pedal seems to have a limited production run and therefore cost is probably pretty high to produce the Ti parts.|| |
