A couple of friends & I are planning on going on a weeklong ride next summer, & need some help in choosing low traffic roads that would be suitable. Right now, I think we're going to stay in motels each night, so we'll be traveling light. Anyone have any experience with this type of tour?

There's several good resources to help you plan a trip for yourself. Here's two:

http://gorp.com/gorp/activity/biking.htm

If you want to join a planned trip the above can help you with that and additionally:

There are lots of other bike tourism operations. Hit Goggle and shop.

If none of that is what your looking for, there's probably several organizied multi day cycling events in your region. Examples: Ride across "yourstatehere", Aids rides, MS multi day rides, etc etc. All of them are going to be on cycle friendly routes. The organizers have too much at stake to put participants in un-needed danger. Asks the organizations, friends who particpated, or check their web sites for route maps.

Go over Highway 20 - up Rainy Pass and Washington Pass. Stay at Sun Mountain Lodge in Winthrop. Ride down to Wenatchee then up over Steven's pass back to the Seattle area.
