Campy 9 cassette tolerancespaulj

I was trying to track down my Campy 9 speed shifting problem when I noticed that the cog spacing on my 2001 Campy 9 Ultra drive 12/23 cassette weren't all equal. With a feeler gauge I measure the gaps between the cogs at about 2.53mm all except for the gap between the 17/19 cog which was about 2.13mm. This is the gap that is created by the 11mm aluminum spacer that fits between the pinned clusters 16/17 and 19/21/23. Has anyones noticed anything similar? Is this normal? Any suggestions or links to info would be appreciated. Thanks..........
.015" would cause problems.High Gear

I as was trying to get my Velomax wheel with Shimano 9 to work with my Campy 9. The chain shifted OK in the upper and lower gears but slow in the center of the cassette were the chainline is straight and clearance is more critical to get the chain to ramp the next cog. I picked up some new spacers that were .010" wider and it shifts so much better, just like stock. So your -.015" gap problem that is almost in the center of the cassette in my eyes would cause a shift problem. My 99' Chorus cassette is spaced evenly. Give Camypusa a call, the tech guy Tom (I think) knows everything and he could give you an idea of whats up with that cassette. # 760-931-0106
