Triple chain ring for Casero: In an interview with the Spanish media defending champion Angel Luis Casero has talked about the upcoming Vuelta a Espana and especially the terrible Angliru climb. Casero struggle on the Angliru two years ago and ended up losing the race to Roberto Heras on that day, however he says that he and the team will not make the same errors, "we will use a triple chain ring this time", said the Valencian. Speaking of who would be his main rivals in this years race he said, "Simoni will come to the race fresh after his expulsion from the Giro, I think he will be the best of the non Spaniards. Of the Spaniards, Heras, Sevilla and Beloki will be dangerous... and keep an eye on Mercado he has learnt a lot".
Looks like at least one pro rider doesn't care if he is Fredish for using a triple.

|To me it is more Fredish to try to grind up a hill in too low of a gear. I have used a 25 or 27 with a double in a race. When we get to the big hill after 50 miles, the guys with a 23 did not look so good.|

|When Indurain was still winning Tours, Merckx had Litespeed build a bike for them with a "racing triple" on it. At the time the bike was offered to Miguel for the stteper climbs on the Tour, but he declined! Interesting, huh?|| |
