|Ok, there always seem to be posts about bike lust, and "if you money was no object what would you pick for your Litespeed, Colnago, Calfee, Serotta, etc." bike of your dreams. After some of the discussion yesterday, I was wondering how little one can spend on a great road bike.
So here's my suggestion for the Friday topic: You love road biking but all you have is $500...what would you buy?
Here's my choice:

|I'd get something similar, if I only had $500. to my mind, no sense getting a POS Al frame with crap components.|

|I have seen many bikes under $500 that were solid, sensible performers. That Centurion is a good one. It has sensible mods, great components, and a real good quality frame. Many of the mid 80's to early 90's bikes can be snapped up for a song. Just gotta be patient and something will come along.
Great bike, great fun to ride.

|It might go for over $500 by the time bidding is finished. I particularly like the name of the high bidder. My selection is limited due to size so this is the best I can do.|

|another bike gathering dust in your basement? I'd ask everyone I know who rides bikes until one of them came up with an answer that just felt right to me. Virtually everybody I know has a spare bike that they'd be happy to turn over but they want to feel like its going to a worthy home.|
