I'll be going to Ashland for a few days next week. Should I bring my road bike or my mountain bike? (only room for one) And what rides do you recommend? And how bad is the smoke down there? Thanks.
Could go either way, but I think road bikeSilverback

Haven't been there this summer, so I can't talk about the smoke, but I've gone there with my kids' soccer teams for several years. There's a lot of mountain biking in the area (ask at the bike shops), but I always took my road bike because I had to ride during the 2-4 hour break between games, and I could leave from the field. Once you get away from I-5, there's pretty good riding in every direction. Downtown Ashland itself is compact, so you're out of town quickly, and there are some GREAT restaurants. Have breakfast at Brothers'.

There are great road rides heading east - over either Greensprigngs Road or Dead Indian Memorial Rd. - but there was just a fire near the latter road, so check online on its status
thanks, bringing the road bike--recommend a shop? nmgtx
