Anybody ever hear of this bike? There's one on ebay and it's claimed to be a one of a kind, made by Colnago. Sounds a bit fishy to me, since I can't find anything on it. It might be a bit big for me, still waiting for the seller to get back to me. Thanks guys

Lost the Kestrel bidding due to a slow modem connection (it went for only $790), so i'm still looking :(

I would email or call Marin. I seriously doubt they have one made by Colnago. They are a company that's well known for their MTB stuff. I like their roadie stuff. Sport Chalet has very nice looking Marin roadies set up with Campy Centaur for $1599. I know nothing of Centaur.

Marin is a company that typically produces mountain bikes.

I was unaware of any connection with Colnago.

Have you tried looking up any information on this on the
Marin website? (do a google search for their site).

Marin has their bicycle line manufactured by the Billato (sp?) brothers in Italy. From what I've heard it's a quality shop that does good work. I've not heard of the Firenze but the Argenta and Treviso are good rides. I almost bought one a few years back. I would trust the Marin name.

I'm not sure how you can check out the sellers story. I am not sure that Marin would confirm for you a failed deal with Colnago as the seller claims. I suppose it is conceivable since Marin currently sources bikes from an Italian builder as other posters have already stated.
Dunno, but it sounds dubious.djg

There are many, good, small, relatively anonymous Italian builders who will build to spec.

I don't know what contracts Colnago has, but it doesn't seem like the sort of thing they'd do. The thing about Colnago is: there's probably no better way for Colnago to add value to a bare frame than to go ahead and paint "Colnago" on it. It's not clear why they'd develop production capacity that would clearly outrun demand for their brand (or why they'd risk the value of the brand by circulating off-brand Colnagos if they did).
