I was looking at a book in Barne's & Noble the other day about everyone who has worn the yellow jersey in the Tour de France and they had a small section on Thiery Marie, because he won the Prologue in 1986, 90, and 91 and they said that in 1991, the aerobars that he used cost 600,000 francs, which was the same as his yearly salary(obviously they were provided by the team). I was just wondering if anyone had any info aboutl, or a picture of these aerobars which must have been made out of platinum and diamonds.
thanks
That probably incorporates R&D costs...TJeanloz

It was like in 1996 when GT said that the Superbikes the US Team rode cost a half million dollars each. They didn't cost that much to produce, but the entire project cost six million dollars and produced a dozen bikes. So I would guess that the team put significant R&D into the aerobars, and quoted the entire expense as the 'cost' of the bars.
600,000 francs is like 10 bucks right? nmpeloton fodder
