Impromptu race with a motorized scooter ...Humma Hah

... So there I was on the commute home, rolling down Rolling Road, when this obnoxious noise comes from my right. One of those little motorized scooters, I'm talking a skateboard with a handle, not a mini-motorcycle, comes putting up the lane, belching 2-stroke smoke and sounding like an out-of-tune weed eater.

I hate polluting little toys like that, and have little respect for the couch-potatoes who feel the need to ride 'em. I look at this particular teenager, and figure I'll leave him and his piece of junk behind.

I drop down the hill and am going back up the other side, when I hear this loud "whaaaaaah" behind me. Sumbitch finally got that thing to run right going downhill and is gaining on me.

I opened the cruiser up and held him off long enough to get to the next intersection, where we went opposite ways. I still hate those things, but I now know they're quicker than they look.

I am so with you, I despise those things.

Our subdivision is lousy with those noise and air polluting little pieces of crap, along with the irresponsible obese preadolescent punks who ride them. It has become my civic duty to (metaphorically) wipe the road with them every chance I get, but you are right, it ain't easy.

I am impressed you were able to hold him off that long on that venerable cruiser beast. My road bike is the only vehicle in my stable I have a hope in hell of dusting these cretins on. The MTB is useless after about 25-50 meters and the 'cross bike lacks sufficient acceleration.
What kind of range do those silly things have?Ahimsa

Seesm to me that the tank is quite small to go any real distance at speed. I see more goony teens walking them then riding them.

Just yell:

"Get a bike!"

and then flip 'em off.

I live in Missouri...We just pass a law that to operate that crap you have to be 16 or older, wear helmet follow the law just like you ride motocycle. They can get ticket just like any other motocycle. Sweet justice!!!!

In most jurisdictions those "toys" are not street legal (no blinkers, brakes and whatnot) and are not allowed on MUTs as a motorized vehicle. They probably also violate noise ordinances in a lot of areas. Just shoot 'em and put them out of our misery....;-0
Good job! I raced one of those once, the little peckerhead...rwbadley

had actually hopped it up with a custom exhaust and I don't know what else.
He had a head start on me, and I was really surprised how fast he took off. I put the juice to it and eventually caught him. At that point it was about 37 mph. He was able to keep it up, I wasn't.
