Horse jumps fance and runs with the peloton during race?...Bruno

I was watching the french movie Amelie and bits of a bicycle race are shown where a horse jumps a fence and starts riding next to the riders. Almost between them. Did this ever happened or was it made up for the movie?
I meant fence not fance (nm)Bruno

Now, I've heard of draft horses, but those are usually pretty slow, probably slower than even I would want to draft.

But a good racehorse would probably pick up the speed of a paceline nicely.

Unless, of course, he kicked your head off.

And then there's the problem that horses make things which are worse than snot-rockets.

My own personal preference for picking up speed would be a pack of hungry wolves BEHIND the peloton. They have better endurance and would REALLY improve my time.

I want to say Amstel Gold race last year or the year before, I think Zabel got knocked off his bike by the horse.
In a local road race a couple of years ago, there was a woman sitting on a horse facing us on the right hand side of the road as we climbed up to her. As we approached, it reared (sp?) up and then bolted across the road in front of us, and went to bound up a drive-way of slick asphalt on the left hand side of the road. Lost it's footing and went down, riding came off as it regained it's footing and took off across the front yard of this house. Very surreal because nobody in the group reacted. It was like I was the only one who saw it!

I have a vague recollection of a horse or other farm animal that ran into the road and hit Erik Zabel during one of the spring races in Belguim or Holland. Am I hallucinating or does anyone else remember this?

What's the big deal anyway? I watch a french film with subtitles with my wife (I'd have watched it w/o her) and I'm suddenly a homo?

Good grief PF, go watch Rambo again if yer that insecure.

Dude you're totally assuming that I implied that you are a big mo for watching french chick flicks. And you make it sound like there's something wrong with being gay. It's fine if that's who you are. You just need to be true to your own heart and not worry about what some stranger on the net (or the catholic church) thinks about the way you live your life. Just be happy with who you are.

I ride through farmlands and farm animals get quite competitive. I had horses, calves, cows race me; even deer on rare occasion. I was always wondering what would happen if we weren't separated by fence.

Should warn you if you want to race cows they're more likely to do it early in the morning just after sunrise when it's still cold.
How about a Giant Bull?GTDave

I live and ride in a pretty rural area, and it's not unusual (happens 1-2 times a year) that I'll encounter a horse or cow in the middle of the road during a training ride. I was out a couple of years ago with a buddy, we hammered around a corner to be confronted by a dignified, but HUGE and grumpy Holstein bull. The sucker probably went 1900-2000 lbs. He did not turn and scamper away like cows usually do. We split sides on him, one of us went left and the other right. It gives me pause even now.

Somewhere I have a photo from the 1984 or 85 Coors Classic where two or three horses did the same thing, but they ran in the ditch alongside the peleton. Great photo.
