I have been using the clip on fender(s) [I only run the rear] and love it. And on the same bike, no less.

inexpensive, easy to use, good coverage, not too ugly, or big

a simple, effective solution.

Gotta admit, when it rains, I still put a baggie over my brooks saddle.

why only the rear and not the front? nmJS Haiku Shop

well, the shop I got it from had the rear only, broken package...they sold it to me for $5 - which was fine.

I was unemployed at the time, and that $10 went towards beer and food.

better used, IMHO
but you probably wasted $2 on the food. :) (nm)JS Haiku Shop

I've used 'em for several years on my commuter (which is black so they kind of blend in). Even with the nobbies on, I get enough clearance for riding in the snow. Go for it.

They are the goods. Cheap. Easy on and off (Though I had to make a little homemade bracket to mount the rear due to my funky cannondale). High quality plastic does not get brittle.

I like the coverage alot on the rear. Not as great on the front compared to full fender sets I've used. In a heavy downpour you may get a bit of kickback on yer toes.

The angle at which the rear sticks out somewhat bothers me looks-wise as it doesn't match the lines of a bike. I prefer the look of classic black fenders due to the tire hugging "roundness" and subsequent cleaner appearance.

None of these things detract from my opinion of them, as they are inherent in the "easy on and off" design which is fantastic.

All in all, the straight dope is:

If you wanna be able to take 'em on an off all the time (I mostly leave 'em on), these are the shiite muslim. If you just want good fenders and don't care about takin' 'em off, get the Planet Bike set instead for better coverage.

They are like having a rain parka in your back pocket. They are ugly but keep the road dirt off. I hate them until it rains and then I am happy I have them.
