I just rode 20 miles...my first long ride. I did this in a little under an hour. Is this a good time? I don't think so.

I have to learn how to pace myself. I burned myself out for sure too early. My Legs were FRIED!

That's great. Don't sweat it, anyhoo. 20 miles under an hour is a good ride for most anyone. Have fun, and don't worry about the numbers at this point.

That's a good pace, if your over 50 that's a great pace. In other words, tell us more about yourself. If you want to ride well, fast and long you will learn that lower intensity riding should be much greater percentage of your riding. For instance you just did 1 hour at very high intensity. You went home shot and will feel it the next day. By comparison, my 1 hour weekday loop is only about 15 minutes very high intensity, that includes a 4.5 mile TT a good steep hill and a flat 200m sprint at the end. You averaged over 20 mph. I average between 18 and 19.

A fine time for 20 miles. I agree with 53T though that it's a good idea to vary your intensity. Nobody can hammer full out all the time. That said, sounds like you're on your way to some serious speed. Roll on.

Thanks...I am 27 years old and I've ran for the last 5 years. A friend of mine got me into road biking and said I would love it...he was right.

I bought a SEVEN AXIOM STEEL....Full Campy with Mavic Ksyrium wheels.....love it.

Thanks

Yeah, I have the Ergo Brain and it said I averaged 19.6 miles per hour...just so you know, I was on really flat pavement...NO HILLS.
