|I have been riding a hybrid for two years. I ride about 75 miles a week (average about 14 mph). I'm a year away from 70.
I have chance to buy an 84 Pinarello for 500$ that appears to fit and seems decent.
Worth a try as a first roadbike or should I stick to my hybrid?

|... I'm more concerned about the cost of the Pinarello...
At that vintage, and unless you're looking at a pristene collectable, $500 seems a lot (you'll be using '84 technology in the first decade of the 21st century... not necessarily a bad thing)...
As far as the switch from hybrid to road... that would depend largely on your personal flexibility and conditioning (slightly more radical position on the bike (not all road bikes need be set up as a road race bike) and a change in muscle groups and how they're used, so expect a bit of initial soreness).
One of the beauties of cycling is one's ability to reap benefits long after most other sports have passed us by. There are several local riders who are a. in your age group and are still going strong or b. started riding later in life and are still going strong.
At any rate, take the time to make sure the bike is properly sized http://psycle-therapy.great-ride.com/fit_links.htm and set up for you to maximize your performance and comfort.
