im sure prospect park must be a refuge for you as i have been doing all my riding at night in central.

cops were cool last night as it was well past midnight and a few of us were in a fast groove so we just kept riding well past the hour when the parks are officially closed.

in a way i feel lucky that its available - safe, well paved and night time just feels faster.
I never ride Prospect Parkonespeed

I only ride Central Park in the mornings.

On weekends I am out on the roads of LI or hitting the GWB.

I have rationalized that commuting on the subway in this heat is worse than riding my bike in.

i just thought it would be handy for a quickride at night when its cool enough given you live within proximity of the brooklyn bridge.

central is heaven late at night, but a pain during the day with all the people, cars and weather. its nice just to ride without having to think about others, road surfaces and whether to plow into a car door or the bus.

i hear ya about the subway.
i get dizzy riding Prospect Parkpukka

According to some people, "the armpit of the Denver Metro Area". At least we live in the far South-East corner, where the B.O. isn't too bad, and gunshots at night are few and far between.

Santa Barbara CA. The "American Riviera", a town where the average house costs about $700,000. This towns idea of culture is college neo-hippies wearing somberos and drinking Coronas with a lime, and their idea of winter is morning fog and 59 degrees. I hope to move back to the real world before I end up buying bulk organic wheatgrass smoothies with foodstamps.

I'm sure there are good things about Aurora as well. Didn't mean to offend anyone.
No need to. No offense taken. Really.RickC5

I actually thought it was funny. When we lived in Louisville, we made fun of Aurora too. Now that we live here, we make fun of Boulder like the rest of Colorado does. Ain't it grand?

I just moved out here from Aurora, CO, in June and boy do I miss Colorado. I never see anyone out here riding, and while the rides are great I miss the climbs like Lookout Mountain, Golden Gate Canyon, Trail Ridge and all that. It's too flat for me. If there is anyone out here in Southern Indiana that rides?
