so much for being "in shape" :-) (a little OT)TomS

Last weekend, for my birthday, my wife got me an ice cream maker and the Ben&Jerry's ice cream recipe book. mmmmmm.... First we made a batch of butter pecan (which we kinda messed up, but was still good) and last night we made a batch of the best chocolate ice cream I think I've ever had.

Another few months of this and I might be posting one of those "which bike for a clydesdale" threads! At least I'm pretty scrawny to begin with...

And there are sorbet recipes in the ben&jerry's book too. Even a beer sorbet!

I just have a thing for good, rich, ice cream; and I also like to cook and experiment with recipes.

Heck, it'll give me an excuse to ride more, gotta work it off.
I swear...yeah right

if it wasn't for ice cream I'd be 30 lbs lighter. I was talking to Curtis Borchart (plays for the utah jazz now) a few years ago when he was 6'11" and 195 and i was 6'4" and about 315, and he's like how do you gain weight? I was like "ice cream always works for me." i think we both weigh about 230 now, he's just 8" taller.
banana ice cream will replace those electrolytes!tarwheel

All I have to do is look at ice cream and certain other foods to gain weight. I rode 950 miles in June and still managed to gain 10 pounds by eating ice cream, french fries and other stuff. You need stuff like that every now and then to keep your sanity. My current splurge is smoothies -- bananas, crushed ice, yogurt and whatever other kind of fruit we've got. Almost as good as ice cream ... well, it's as cold anyway.
I shouldn't ask this, but here goes.....PaulCL

...where can I get the Ben & Jerry's ice cream recipe book? Did it come with the ice cream maker? Not for me, but for my dear wife. I swear. Really, its' for my wife. Ice cream, nah, never touch the stuff. Really. I'm not kidding. Believe me??

Could this be Radical Ron's newest money making venture? Think of the possibilities!

The full name is "Ben & Jerry's Homemade Ice Cream & Dessert Book"

http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/ASIN/0894803123/qid=1029359102/sr=2-3/ref=sr_2_3/102-1773813-1260955

it's got a couple chapters of ben&jerry's history, and "theory" of ice cream; then all kinds of ice cream & sorbet recipes, and some baked goods too (like choc chip cookies for ice cream sandwiches).

I felt weird last weekend going grocery shopping, buying our normal low-fat mostly vegetarian food and produce, and then a box of butter, two pints of heavy cream, and eggs!
