Zepp XL Stem RECALL(3 posts)

Zepp XL Stem RECALLLS
Aug 13, 2002 8:23 PM
Someone reported earlier that Zepp XL stems on factory C-dales are being recalled. I have confirmed w/TTT that this recall is applicable to all Zepp XL stems. I was told that these stems should not be used as the bolts holding the clamp can shear off. My LBS confirmed that a local rider had this happen to him while climbing, causing serious injuries. Word is that replacement bolts will fix the problem and will be available in a couple weeks, after TTT announces the recall (not sure why C-dale is advertising this while TTT keeps quite for 2 wks, or why all the shops are still selling the Zepp XL as is).

I recently bought a 3T Zepp stem--is there a difference between just a Zepp and XL? Mine is the cnc T6, 135 gram, AZPX code (whatever that is) but looks identical to the one in the cannondale pic.

thanks
LBS said it only applies to the XL...biknben

The stem with the smaller diamter clamp is fine. I sure hope so. I've got one.

Apparently, the screws on the XL aren't long enough and the threads are failing. Swaping the bolts for longer ones will solve the problem.
