Since Trek dropped them, and everyone else is ripping off their weak patent, how will they survive?

What exactly is patented? "Paired spoke technology?" For all we know this is a marketing term- it could have more to do with how the spokes enter the hubs or rims. Hasn't Shimano's "paired spoke" wheel been out longer than the Rolf?

My LBS said Trek dropped Rolf (or Rolf dropped Trek) because Trek was more or less dictating to Rolf what Trek wanted out of a wheelset and Rolf was asked to make too many compromises to deliver a very inexpensive product.

Do the math: I don't know of anyone who upgraded to a set of Rolfs. I do, however, have a set sitting unused in my front closet.
