A friend of a frined of mine is a paraplegic and is interested in getting into cycling. I have seen various forms of wheel chair and 3 wheel racing on TV including a mountain bike type version of a wheel chair (he was catching air!). I can't seem to find any information on it.

Can anyone help me out?

I used to hang with a guy that lost his leg in an accident.
Always wanted to go riding with him if we coulda rigged something up. Never happened though. Shame.

Anyway, If it were me, I'd want one of these:

I saw a guy with one of those (or something very similar) in the Bicycle Tour of Colorado 2 weeks ago. He did every mile and every foot of elevation. He was awesome to watch!
A couple of their team riders are doing "Ride the Rockies"...Ahimsa

...according to the website.

I'm speechless. THAT is very cool.

I imagine these cats could cream us at arm wrestling.

I'd almost want one just for the workout. Can you imagine doing both that and regular cycling? Talk about fit.

I'm glad that there are finally real options for folks that can't do the diamond frame thing.

Cheers!

My wife's cousin's husband's brother (seriously) rides a similar rig to the one pictured. He has done several cross-country tours with T.E.A.M.- The Exceptional Athlete Matters. I know they have a website, but I don't have the url handy.
This guy can't walk, but his handshake could crush your hand.

Greg Lemond is involved and often rides with them, Lance has been known to show up at events occasionally. My cousin has autographed jerseys from both of them. Don't know if you can link to handcycle manufacturers from the site.

I really should do the search first, before posting, but here are some sites:

http://www.bike-on.com/links.htm
http://www.spinlife.com/store/sportstore.cfm?adv=google&tar=handcycle
http://www.handcycle-friends.org/

These are but a few from doing a search for "handcycles" at google. There are many more, check them out.
Thanks all! (nm.)Scotttheroadie
