I finally made the transition from MT biking to road, and would like any suggestion on what I should start looking at to upgrade my bike in order to start road racing.

I bought a used cannondale 2.8 frame with a durace crankset and ultegra 600 8 spd on everything else with cosmic elite wheelset with something shwinn tires, profile BRC fork, generic seat post, stem , and handle bars.

In my area its mostly crits, so any suggestion on tires or anything you guys think need to be done this winter to get ready for the next road season.

Unless you've just got money to burn and want to get some lighter stiffer wheels (though the wheelset is fine). This is a perfectly capable set up for a new racer. Stiff, light.

High quality clinchers will give you better grip on the corners and will roll slightly better to boot (although don't expect to go that much faster). It's one of the few inexpensive upgrades that's a real upgrade for the way your bike rides.
