|On a 1" fork, can you take a CroMo threadless steerer tube and cut threads? or is there a basic difference (other than the threads) in threaded and threadless forks?|
|Short answer is - no.||Spoke Wrench|

|I own the correct tap and guide to cut the threads, but it would take me about an hour, plus using every bike mechanic word that I know, to cut that many threads. And that's the upside.
The downside is: What are we really working with? A threadless fork, which wasn't designed to have threads cut into it, could well have thinner wall thicknesses than a comparable threaded fork. You could find yourself in a condition where the only thing connecting your handlebar with your front wheel is the brake cable.
I wouldn't do it.
