I raced the midwest collegiate season this year. first race, I crashed. I thanked God that I didn't break any bones. five races later, I broke my collarbone.
I'm doing the collegiate MTB season this year, and I'm also doing cyclocross.
By the end of the year...fracisco

My goal is to get one or two Cat5 races in before the end of the year, train over the winter with my Cat4/Cat3 friends, and race in the Spring at Cat5. I'm soaking it all in like a sponge right now, and I have a pretty good idea what I need to do over the winter to get ready.

I just started biking/visiting this page in April... I'm doing triathlons and duathlons this summer, hopefully doing a very popular road race here (the only road race here, I believe) next june. Like the person who posted above me, I've acquired a lot of good information from people here and I have a good idea of what I'm going to do in the winter to prepare :).

that's a link to my first triathlon race report. Posted it on the tri board, no one seems to care there though. Since it's as close to a bike race as I've gotten, I thought I'd share it with you guys too!

I was competing 2 maybe 3 times a month up until a couple years ago because I now have 2 young kids. I decided to go into semiretirement because I think it's more important to be a great dad then a great bike racer whos out training and racing all the time :)

i have 2 kids so i dont race as often as i used to and was never all that great to begin with, but for me it's a good way to challenge yourself and give yourself some goals to train for. try a road race or a TT and see if you like it.
I have registered for three races, although I think that you canbill

say that I actually only RACED one of them.
I will definitely do it again.
I'm 43, with 2 little ones, and I've never raced before this season, so that it's been a little tough getting started. What's ticking me off right now is that NOW I'm in racing shape, particularly compared to some riders who were in shape in June but now are a little stale (on training rides, I slap around the odd Cat 4 -- don't get me wrong, strong Cat 5's will still kick my butt), but there aren't that many races and I just don't have the time for the ones that are left around here (family vacations, etc.).
I am going to try to do it again before the season is completely dead.

I'm 47, have been riding for a year, and started racing this year. Results are what you would expect of my age and limited riding history. But I really enjoy it and plan to continue doing it. And I'd recommend to anyone who is thinking about doing it to stop thinking and go for it.

I have raced extensively in the past. Been out of the game for about 3 years. Raced as a triathlete for about 10 years, then switched over to road races. Did well as a Cat 3, raced about 3-4 events every week in season, road track, TT, crits. Even did a little 'cross and MTB for kicks.
race, crash, all of it!LC

I do a mid week crit every week, and a road race or crit on the weekend. It really makes me feel alive, defintely a rush! Sometimes it is so much fun (i.e. place in top 10), sometimes not (get dropped or crash), but that is just part of the adventure. Started in early March, so I am trying to hang on to my peak condition. Hardly even train now as i feel like I could end up in the overtraining zone real easy doing two races a week. The race season is almost done as it ends around here near the end of August. After a short rest, the real work starts again this fall...training for next year.
2x a week....brian

i race cat 3s on track, cat 4s on road. i generally race the local thursday night crit as well as my weekly track meet. i sometimes spice it up with another road race on the weekends, but since my girlfriend lives about 3 hours away most of my weekends are spoken for :)

I am going to do collegiate nationals for the track, but am unsure if I'll do the mtn season in the fall.
