I've been meaning to ask this question before, but I just got around to it. I'm curious as to what most of the riders keep in their feed bags for food. Anything special? Thanx!

The feed bags are set up by the Tour organizers. They have among other things, a miniature can of coca cola, a couple gu packets and a couple bars. I forget now what the preferred energy drink for the organizers is. It is not Accelerade, Endurox or Cytomax.

I remember reading somewhere that Extran is the official energy drink of the Tour. I'm trying it out right now, it tastes good but seems a bit expensive.

Other than sponsorship, why would a can of coke be in there?

Does any rider actually drink it?

The riders love it, that's why it's in there. Over the years, you can see many riders taking the feed bag, digging for the coca cola and throwing the rest of the bag away.

Thought Coke was bad to drink while riding for a bunch of reasons. But then again, these guys aren't exactly human.

I don't remember the brand, but they showed this on OLN during the Tour.

On OLN they showed two tarts, coke, high calorie gel and some power bar type thing. It was all French.

How ironic, the Tour organizers hand out free caffeine, yet they're busting riders for trace amounts of recreational drugs that do nothing to enhance performance.
