carbon soled shoe / spd cleat compatibility?rockbender

I just got some cool new carbon-soled roadie shoes, and am just wondering if I need to take any precautions before bolting up either my spd or Time ATAC cleats on them. The soles look so pretty - I would hate to screw them up!

Also, isn't there a plastic cup that you can put under the cleat that surrounds it protects the cleat / makes it a bit easier to walk?
no trouble....I was using ATAC's, now SPD's....IAmtnbikr

the ATAC cleats had no "pontoons" like these SPD-style cleats do. They came with my Performance pedals. I would think if you were creative, you could even glue on some sort of a rubber strip, I seem to have heard of it being done by MTB'rs who used stiff road shoes and wanted to walk in them.
