I would like to see what ppls opinion on the Diamondback Master is. I can get me one for a decent price with full ultegra all the way round. I may buy it for a commuter/wet/beater bike.

I bought a Diamondback Hockenheim 105 with Columbus Zonal and I'm pretty happy with it. It's just a bit heavy (your master will be lighter). They seem to have long top tubes so if you're buying mail order edge towards smaller. This is my first road bike and apart from the saddle (ouch) it seems pretty comfortable.

I have 7 year old Diamondback Master with the old Shimano RX100 gruppo. It was my first road bike and I am very impressed with it's durability. Rode in many tris and I can't tell you how many training rides. The steel frame is a bit heavy, but when you stomp on the cranks, there is not a lot of frame flexing goin' on!It is a solid bike. I am changing to Ultegra and updating the wheels after 7 years. It is my second bike when I need a backup or just feeling nostalgic for my old buddy. I am looking for something a bit lighter for climbing. Ditto on the top tube length. I am 5'10" and have a 59cm model and long rides can be a tad uncomfortable stretching out to my drops. If you go with the Master, think about going 1 cm shorter than recommended, unless you have an unusually long upper body. Just my .02
