Gilberto Simoni of the Saeco/Cannondale team was cleared this past weekend of all accusations of drug use. Simoni was cleared by both the Italian prosecutor’s office and the Italian governing body for cycling. The investigation into Simoni included a chemical analysis of his hair, which would show (if it were the case) any use of cocaine. To the contrary, it helped prove Simoni's innocence.
Homeopathic candies from South America that Simoni was taking were found to have traces of cocaine leaves, and have been confirmed as the source of the cocaine traces found in Simoni.

But, to play devils advocate....if you are an athlete performing at that level knowing that you will be watched/tested closely for drug use...if somebody, includng your mom or whomever, sends you some homeophatic herbal type candies, shouldn't you have the sense not to take them? He may be totally innocent of doping, but he is guilty of not using his brain.
More than one athlete could be disqualified for stupidity.dzrider

Intelligence, or common sense for that matter, has never been a criterion. When I was in my 20's I used to run 2.5 miles up to a spring by the side of the road, get a drink and run home. It took me just under 21 minutes to get to the spring and just over 18 minutes to get back home. If I did a little coke the night before it took me 23 minutes to get to the spring and 21 to get home. If I did a lot of coke, I didn't run at all. Not a drug that enhanced my athletic performance, though I'm told I was much more fun at parties.

He didn't use the candies to get high - he just liked the way they tasted. ;-)
