Has anyone played around with this site? It allows you to sorta customize a TREK OCLV. Problem is the choices are pretty narrow, and you cannot order it without the wheelset. If you want to order the frameset only, it comes in one of the two standard colors. Oh, well. Trek's rather weak attempt to compete with Colnago, but still kind of cool.

I've seen a few Project One bikes around here. I thought I would play with the configuration tool and see what I could arrive at. Granted, the options aren't numerous, and I was bummed that I couldn't substitute the Bontrager wheels with something from Mavic. I'm not a huge fan of the carbon/clear look on the 5200, so I chose the old style white/Trek logo paint scheme.

I'm going to go and try a Trek 5200 out this Fall and see how it rides, as I see quite a few in the group rides, along with the usual club-sponsored Cannondales (CAAD5/6), and they must be working fine for the racers.
You're right, can't compete with Colnago...DrPete

Trek's paint jobs just aren't ugly enough...

Well, at least now I know I really, really, really can't afford a custom-painted 5900 with full DA and Bontrager carbons...

shoot i could have nearly any bike i wanted for that price! and the paint schemes are still pretty boring. anyone notice hincapie's is different from the ones the offer? even the phrase he uses on his "custom lettering" will not fit in the space they give you.
Interesting(about Hincapie). (nm)jtferraro
