Bike, comments please....... (10 posts)
| Bike, comments please....... | african Jul 29, 2002 11:22 AM | | Ok this is not my bike, but I just found it at a local store and my friend bought it. I think it is about 2 years old. It has that electronic shifting by mavic. Ignore the pedals thats just for the test ride. Just wanted some comments/feedback. As for me I am still looking for a bike, which is proving as hard as finding a wife.
Cheers......... |

I have never heard anyone who "really" likes it. What I have heard is that the batteries tend to crap out pretty fast and it's not very reliable in the rain.
Someone who has actualy used it may give you a better perspective. If I remember right there are several guys who post on www.cyclingforum.com who use them. |
| in one word.... | Spirito Jul 29, 2002 11:51 AM | | ... fxxxxin' ugly ....
yes thats 2 words but ugly on its own would not have been accurate enough,
looks like something that a 19 yo college brat, who owns an Acura finished with a 2 foot spoiler and 27 speakers, would ride on the weekend around campus in full team kit on a 10 mile ride (3 miles of both warm up and cool down).

| re: Bike, comments please....... | No_sprint Jul 29, 2002 12:09 PM | | Marin makes fine bikes. I guess some people above think it's ugly. Yellow aint my color either, but many bikes are come as you are bikes. I don't particularly like the look of any Treks. That is not to say it's a bad bike.
In regards to Mektronic, a poster above states that *nobody really likes it*. A couple months ago there was a discussion on this very board where some Mek users came out to play. They were all very happy with it. As a matter of fact, the couple Mek users I know absolutely love it and swear by it. Yes, batteries do wear out.
If it fits you and is a good price, it looks like a fine bike to own. |
