|I'm currently riding on Shimano pedals with "cruising" shoes. I ride a Trek 2300 75-100 miles/week at 15-17 mph on a mix of roads and paved trails. Given that there are are differences in specific shoes...will I notice significant improvement in energy transfer if I:
-Change to more of a racing shoe or,
-Change to Look-style pedal or,
-C)All of the above
If answer is "C", which one would be the most advantageous.

|I don't know what you mean by "cruising" shoe. Are you just talking about a lugged shoe? If you are already in a clipless set up, then you will not get a significant performance improvement with different shoes and pedals.
A stiffer sole does technically transfer energy more efficiently, but I really dare someone to tell me that they ride faster with new shoes. I do think that stiff soles (or wider platform pedals) can enhance comfort in that shoe flex can create "hot spots."
But if you are already clipless and comfortable, I wouldn't replace anything 'til it needs it.
|Just what I need to know! Thanks! nm||Bike Mike|
