Merckx Team SC Owners, Help Needed!Rik

My 55 cm Team SC arrived today and to my dismay is too tall for me. The top tube and seat tube angles are identical to the LS Ultimate I've been riding but the bike is a full 3cm taller. The shop is very amenable to an exchange but the dilemma is to exchange for what, 53 or 54cm?? I'm not sure that a 54 would be short enough either. FWIW, I also ride a 54cm (c-c) kg281 that fits very well but has a geometry different from the LS or the Merckx. Any guidance would be appreciated.

Turns out that I have another option as well, a 48cm sloping top tube with the appropriate top tube length and seat tube angles. Any opinions?

Didn't you get measured before ordering the frame? I normally ride a 54cm frame...but the Team SC that fit was a 52cm.

Have someone who knows what they're doing measure you properly. The Merckx is a dream of a bike to own, you owe it to yourself to get one that's just the right fit for you.

Good luck.

This is going to be your DREAM BIKE! Instead of throwing darts at the board with a blindfold on, spend some time and $ (if necessary) being properly fit. I ride a 55 LS Classic and purchased a 54 Merckx SC. Using a FitStick, I've been able to replicate the fit exactly on the Merckx.

Whatever you do, resist the temptation to make a quick compromise. I can't speak to the compact frame, but the Team SC provides a sublime ride when properly fit. Long live King Eddy! Good luck.
