|I've got a good deal lined up on Giant OCR 1. I'm curious if I should go ahead and get my LBS to swap the Triple for a Double. I'm a mtbiker mostly but am interested in some road training rides and maybe a century down the line. Suggestions?|

|You don't say where you live, which I think is a big factor in the double/triple debate. Here in Colo., I'd advise any new roadie to get a triple so that ride choice would never be limited.
Unless you are in very flat country, I don't see how a triple can hurt.

|I mainly road bike for commuting AND to get better at MTBing. My entry level road bike has a triple on it and never have I regretted it. Early in the season I use it at least once a ride, but as the season progresses, like now, I never use it. But again, unless I was overly concerned on weight, it is a no brainer for acasual rider. Just get it and be happy that you have it when you need it.
I agree with the other poster though, where do you live. I have some mountains to contend with in San Diego, so for me I use it.
