|I'm deliberating over my endless options to get a new road bike. I tend to fit well on longer TT'd bikes and prefer steel (853). It's been many years since my 10spd Schwinn Varsity so my goal is to find a decent road bike for road training and riding when the trails are too muddy.
I've found some decent looking used bikes (Schwinn Peloton, IF, LeMond, etc.). What are folks' thoughts on the late model Schwinn bikes?
I've also been reviewing new "value" oriented bikes from Fuji, Raleigh, KHS and Jamis that are much better spec'd then their more prestigious peers.
Post bankruptcy sale, Schwinn is no longer producing high-end road bikes so I doubt their ongoing support of older models.
Then again, I'm not too concerned about frame failure as it's not a FS mountain bike with all those moving parts.
Thanks in advance,
