I'd imagine so. The probably also get worn quicker if the rider is heavy.

I've read that over inflating your tires is the leading cause of premature tire wear. I'm "big" also, I run my tires at 120psi. I was running at 125-130 and the tires wore out faster. Of course a lot of it depends on the tire, type of roads you ride, riders weight etc...the expensive tires use a softer rubber compound for better grip but wear out faster, the inexpensive tires use a harder rubber compound, don't ride as well but last longer... a low psi for a big guy can lead to rim punctures...that's what I've found anyway..
