after months of waiting my de rosa merak arrived last tuesday. sloping frame with record and neutron wheels.

it is an amazing bike, very stiff and quite comfortable.
used it on typical irish roads ie. rough and rolling, with a few climbs included.

compared to my previous bike, a giant cfr, the de rosa is a rocket on the climbs. power goes directly to the rear wheel without fuss. it also feels really solid on the descents, hit 44mph today and it felt more stable than the giant.

the campagnolo record components are fantastic, no need to worry about missing a gear.
also, the frame is one of the most beautiful and best finished frames that i've seen.
some thought it was a carbon frame when they saw it, the welds are so smooth.
overall, the best 4000+ euro i've ever spent

Congrats on the Merak. That is a nice looking bike! I've heard that it's a bit rough riding. Glad to here its smoother than reported. Have fun.

thanks.
it can get a little rough on really bad roads, but on everything else it is much better than i was expecting of an aluminium frame. over here, the roads can get pretty bad (no wonder kelly thrived in the classics).

i have a deda blackstick post (carbon) and slr xp saddle.
it can get bumpy but it is not a jarring ride, or maybe i'm just used to rough roads.
This thinly-veiled bit of bragging...Crankist

...worked quite well! My envy is large. Congrats.
Why is it that a new bike is far more exciting in the first few weeks of ownership than a new car. I'll grant that I'm not out there buying a new Lotus, but any new bike - especially a great bike is just more memorable.
Have Fun,
Mike
