Climbing wheelsets for the TdF?MXL02

The stage yesterday was fantastic, but I was suprised to see
Lance and JaJa both using aero wheelsets. I would have thought they would have opted for something lighter (not that it would have altered the outcome.) Did they opt for the deeper Vees for the mid-stage decent?

They have a deep profile and with carbon rims, spokes, hubs are pretty much the lightest wheels at less than 1000g for the pair. They are custom made one at a time and cost around $3000 US for the pair.

aren't ada's and lightweights pretty much the same wheel? i remember there being some controversy on part of the designer and owner and the company broke into two pieces, with lighweight designing a slightly new wheel and ada making the old one.
I heard the same thing (nm)BipedZed
