Anybody watch Letterman last night?amflyer

He was doing a cooking bit with a famous NYC chef (at one point he stuffed a raw soft-shell crab down his pants...)

When it was time to taste the goodies, guess who he brought in? Robin Williams...wearing Mapai team shorts, a Kelme Catlike helmet, Camelback with clipped-on suck-tube, and perhaps a Casartelli(??) baby-blue jersey. If you think that none of these articles were color coordinated, you are correct.

And my God, what hairy legs you have Robin!

What do you expect growing up in Boulder... ; )lnin0

Robin Williams is a big cycling fan and friend of Armstrong. He is often spotted in Paris at the end of the Tour. He also sometimes rides in Amrstrong's Ride for the Roses.

If you watch Robins HBO special, which by the way it so funny I almost pissed my pants, he mentions Lance and the Tour. Apperently he is a big soccer fan too.

Very cool guy.

Robin Williams is an avid cyclist and personal friend/fan of Lance Armstrong's. He also was on Letterman last week and talked for a while about the Tour de France and Lance. It kind of surprised me that Letterman would talk about this rather than just goof off with Robin, but they talked for a minute or two about cycling -- which is a long time for a TV show like this.

I saw an interview with Robin Williams about 5 or 6 years ago. He was sitting in his apartment in NYC. Behind him was a white Kestrel. Very cool. The bike was never mentioned, but I knew right then that he was a 'right thinking man'.

And Robin...shave those legs. To use his own joke:"what do you call Robin Williams in the sauna??? Gorilla in the mist"
I think I read Robin has quite a few bikesColnagoFE

Can you imagine Robin with shaved legs? You'd need a weed whacker to get that hair off!

a couple of years ago. I was in a booth looking at a Ferrari Colnago. I was scoping it out and suddenly noticed a large crowd around me. I looked to the side and he was standing there. I was stunned. All I could say was Hi how you doing. He said great.

He is an avid cyclist he did a bit on cycling in his HBO special. And, yes he is incredibly hairy and very short.
He was at RFR this year alsojromack

I got to meet him, he's quite the character. He rode a Cannondale last year, but this year was on a Litespeed. All of his gear was well worn, and that impressed me. It's not like he hops on a bike once a year just to be seen.

Here he is at this year's Ride for the Roses with Lance. Robin was pretending Lance could only speak French so he was "interpeting" for him. This was at the start of a special ride on Saturday for the guys who collected the most money. I just happened to be at the Fairgrounds getting ready for a quick spin. I got quite a few close up photos of Lance also and got to chat with him a bit. He's a really humble guy.

PS that's my head in the lower right corner!

that one. Yes, I am in SW La., Lake Charles area. I don't get to BR very often though. There was a nice one that we registered for a stage race at couple of years ago. It was in N. BR the name escapes me. I have a friend who owns a LBS in Lake Charles area.
He does mostly tri stuff Softride etc. but also does road bikes, Fuji,Calfee and Colnago.

Capital Cyclery isn't very good at least the branch in LC isn't. I've also dealt with Bayou cycles in NO they are pretty knowledgable.

Sorry I couldn't be of more help. 99% of my purchases are from LBS and mail order.

Do you live in the area?

no I'm in London - my parents live in BR for now - he wants to get into riding for health reasons - and wants an upright comfy cruiser type bike - he saw that Lanrider and it had the right sales pitch - thankfully he asked me first - it looks a nightmare

thanks for the info.

for comfort ask him to give my friend at tri-specialties a call. A couple of the guys I ride with have bad backs and use Softrides. It wont give him the upright position but the comfort will be there.

I've visited London a couple of times. I lived in Spain for 3 yrs and went up there on vacation. It was lots of fun.
