we ride together, something always seems to happen to his bike. One time he lost the chain, another it was the bottom bracket. Tires blowing off the rim. This could be awful luck, but....

I would have to say a good mechanic. I think anyone can ride a bike well, with enough practice and determination.

When I am slowing down as a rider, I can handle that, but I would like to know that the bike I work on will not fail me needlessly.
