|I have a bike that says "Official Bicycle of the 1976 Olympic Games". I would appreciate any information that anyone could give me on how to identify more information about the bike, such as whether it was ridden in the Olympics or if it was just the same model as a bike ridden in the Olympics. I do not have extensive knowledge of bicycles and any information at all would be helpful. Thanks in advance.|

|The Retro board might be a better place to ask but since I hang out here and there...
1976 was an Olympic year (Montreal as I recall) and a number of products suddenly became "Official Olympic" products. In regard to bikes many of these were department store models and would never have gotten anywhere near the velodrome or roadrace. Such a bike even with the Olympic decalling has minimal to no value. Some better quality bikes would also have Olympic decalling and may or may not have some collectibility. In all cases these were retail bikes not actual competitors. You need to ID the actual brand of the bike and maybe list some of the components.
Highly doubtful it was a competitor as such a bike would have the maker's name but not commercial Olympic logos. In 76 an Olympic rider would be on a top line Raleigh or any number of Italian makes such as Cinelli or Masi.

|Thanks for your help. I have to do some more checking on the bike since I didn't look for any of the manufacturing information.|| |
