|I've got a 2000 allez comp (A1 alloy model) with only about 1800 mi on it. The frame condition is nearly mint..no scratches or anything, except that yesterday I found a hairline crack on the front derailleur attachment. What's worse is it's exactly where the derailleur screws in, and i'm afraid the whole thing might break off. It's obviously a defect. Anyone had similar problems? Will Specialized fix or replace this? It especially makes me wonder about the rest of the frame. thanks,

|Sorry to be so pessimistic, but there have been a lot of failures on these things. If you can get warranty on yours that would be best - otherwise about the best they'll do is give you 20% off on another frame. Either way you wind up with another Specialized product that is bound to fail. Maybe you can get a credit on a better frame?|

|Specialized is a good company so you shouldn't have a big hassle with a warranty repair/replacement. I'm not familiar with that frame but the way you discribe it I assume it has a welded on front derailleur tab. Maybe someone overtightened the front derailleur bold which led to the crack? At any rate, good luck.
