|I am new to riding road bikes. I just got a used trek 5500 a couple of days back. The bike is about 5 years old and came with dura ace pedals. I cant read the model# off the pedals but from looking at pictures, I belive it is a PD-7410. I bought road biking shoes and cleats to use with this bike. The specs on the shoes and cleats are SH-R095 and SM-SH71 respectively. I installed the cleats on the shoes using directions on the cleats packing.
I am unable to engage the cleats onto the pedals. I tried pressing down so hard the i managed to engage them but could not get it off the pedal. I had to get my foot off the shoes and the shake the shoes for 30+ minutes before it came off.
Am i missing something about how cleats are engaged, or do i have to adjust the pedal to fit the cleat? Any words of advice on my problem?

|and have them show you how to adjust them. It sounds like something is installed wrong, even at the tightest setting it should not be that difficult to clip out. A friend of mine was having trouble getting out of his Ultegra peddles, seems he installed the cleats backwards.|| |
