OK, I done the deed today and the Urologist said "two weeks OFF the bike". BIG-BIG :( as I'm currently doing about 1K miles/month and don't want to loose too much of my base. I'm starting to wonder if "it" will be worth it. ;)

Any experience/suggestions from riders who have had this procedure???

I road three days post "V"PaulCL

and paid for it. It didn't hurt while I rode, but that night it felt like I got kicked real hard.

Let's be graphic for a second....your Vas deferens were cut, then tied off. There will be scare tissue formed at the ligated end. My "V" made it feel as if I had two hard marbles in my scrotum (I did say 'graphic' did I not?). That was the scare tissue - the healing. That's what caused the pain.

It took about ten days to two weeks before everything was completely back to normal. I road without any serious pain or discomfort at about a week post "V"

Based on my own experience I strongly suggest waiting at least 7-10 days to get on your bike. If you just had it done today you need lots of scrotal support and ICE ICE ICE. The best thing to do is use a bag of frozen peas they will form around you and really help reduce the swelling. There is swelling even if you dont notice it.The day after was much worse for me than the day of. I had the procedure a few months ago. Good luck and dont rush things
you can not exercise for up to 1 week w/o loss of condition nmweiwentg

I wasn't riding at the time, but my doc had a story...PdxMark

As he was doing the deed, my doc told me about one of his patients early in his practice.

Since the patient felt so well after the procedure, he & his wife went out that night for drinking, dancing and general celebrating. Late the next day, waking out of a drunken stupor, the patient had a big surprise. He calls the doc, almost frantic. "Doc, Doc," he says "I need to see you right away!" "What's the matter?" the doc asks. "My scrotum is the size of a grapefruit!!" the guy shreiks. So the doc has him come in, and sure enough, it WAS the size of a grapefruit. It turns out that a little constrained bleeding can have a pretty interesting effect over time...

Maybe you could check with your doc again to get a realistic time frame... or go for a ride the day after and let us know how it goes... :)

better to take 2 weeks off (1 week will probably be enough though--think i was doing rides after a week). if you overdo it before you're ready you'll know it. ouch!!
I didn't listen to the doc eitherColorado Ron

and paid for it dearly. The problem is the day after it's done you ususally feel great and think everything is fine. Many will then try to return to normal activity, like I did, only to find out the next day of two that you now have cause bleeding and also have an infection and your back to square one. Do yourself a favow and listen to your doc. I wish I would have.
