|OLN Commercial breaks (Not a Spoiler)||Len J|

|So I decide to take off this morning to watch the TDF TTT. first half hour is ok, second half hour there are 2 minutes of commercials followed by 4 minutes of coverage, followeed by 2 min of Comm etc, etc, it's getting annoying. Next fifteen minutes is 3 minutes of commercials followed by 3 minutes of coverage, It sucked.
The reward for all of these commercials was a commercial free final 30 minutes of coverage.
I think I'll either skip the live broadcast in the morning or just watch the final 45 minutes of daily coverage.
Anyone else bothered by this?

|But I'd be more bothered if I couldn't see the TdF at all. I'm using the my mute button and commercial-break-channel-surfing abilities quite a bit.|

|Not the cheapest solution, but it also lets you take long Saturday morning rides and still catch MST3K. :)|

|I really don't watch any live TV anymore. I use my PVR system for everything. News? I do something for the first 10 minutes, then sit down, rewind to beginning and watch what I want FF through the commercials and other stuff I don't want. For the Tour I just set it to record and watch it when I want. There is a neat little arrow button which forwards through the commercials.|

|"I cried because I had no shoes until I saw a man who had no feet."
Before OLN, we'd have been lucky to have seen a few highlights on ESPN or the news, or wait a few months for video.
Commercials still suck, but it's better than the alternative.

|but that doesn't mean I won't whine about it.
I was just surprised by how bad the middle 45 minutes was to watch.

|People have been complaining about commercials since day one of broadcast television, I imagine. Is the BBC any better?
I think of it as time to hit the mute button and talk to my wife.
|BBC is worse because they have never shown cycling||pukka|

|We do not enjoy airing the commercials any more than you enjoy watching them. The cost of airing the Tour de France is enormous and commercials are how we pay for it. We make no profit from our advertisers, the commercials you see merely cover the overhead of the Tour.

|Can you imagine the electronic piles of e-mails George (or whoever at OLN) gets regarding the Tour coverage? Yeesh.|
|Thank OLN for showing the Tour !||Maartin|

|Without them there would be no Tour. They need to pay for their costs like all other sports coverage. Its normal.|

|I'd personally rather they do commercials spread out over the whole broadcast, like last year. I'm not certain that the last 1/2 hour commercial free is worth ruining the prvious hour of coverage.

|it's often the crux of the stage that happens in the last 30 minutes; teams bringing their sprinters up front, roads usually tighten and have more turns, times gaps are well known, clearer picture of who taking home the jerseys, flyers caught by the peloton, etc. I'd hate them to cut to commericial during that time!
I think it's kind of cool they front-end load the commerials to free up one of the most critical and exciting parts of the race. Fortuantely I have time to watch commericials, ahhh the joys of July unemployment ;-)

|We really should not complain about todays coverage. 2 days ago with 5Km to go and right after a solo rider launch an attack and left the peloton, OLN went to commercials. I damn nearly sent my remote through my TV but i quickly recomposed myself after thinking of the $800 it will cost me to replace it!! Of course when OLN retured from commercials, the peloton had reeled this guy back in.|| |
