| Team TT question ( not a spoiler) | Dave Hickey Jul 10, 2002 6:05 AM | | How many riders have to finish the Team Time trial? Does the whole team have to finish? |
| re: Team TT question ( not a spoiler) | brider Jul 10, 2002 6:09 AM | | I believe the teams time is determined by the 7th team member to finish. |
| none actually... | merckx56 Jul 10, 2002 6:21 AM | | have to finish together, but the time for the "team finish" is determined by the fifth rider across the line. those who were dropped must finish with 25% of their team's finish time. |
| Why doesn't every team select 5 of their best time trialists and | tz Jul 10, 2002 6:47 AM | | leave the "slow" riders behind? |
| Why doesn't every team select 5 of their best time trialists and | TJeanloz Jul 10, 2002 6:55 AM | | Because the 'slow' riders can sit in the TT specialists draft, and then take hard pulls at the front giving the TT specialists a rest, and these guys can just be burned through. Additionally, there is a small (minute) aerodynamic advantage to having somebody drafting off of you. |
| Another TTT question | funknuggets Jul 10, 2002 7:00 AM | | One more question... suppose a team drops a member, and that member finishes a minute after the 5th rider finishes. What time gets added to that individual's time?... the team time... or the team time plus one minute??? |
| They all get the same time (nm) | brider Jul 10, 2002 7:11 AM | | .. |
| no | Jekyll Jul 10, 2002 7:22 AM | | The first five get the same time, the riders after the first five get their actual individual times. |
| Late riders get their actual times, not the team time, plus | PdxMark Jul 10, 2002 7:22 AM | | they are subject to time elimination. So an early crash/flat could cause a rider to be eliminated if they can't make the very fast time cut. That's from Phil/Paul. |
| Another TTT question | Wayne Jul 10, 2002 7:24 AM | | No, he gets his time, i think, which would be the team's time plus one minute. But the you can't do any better than your 5th man so if 4 of you finished a minute infront of rider #5 you still would get his time. |
